By 4th grade, there is a wide range of reading abilities. The shelf that I keep our books on is best for chapter books but not good for showcasing other genres and levels of books. We need storage for picture books, poetry anthologies, and non-fiction books. I am asking for a mobile book organizer. Easier access to organized books will continue to foster my students' natural love of reading. We will be exploring different genres of books and fostering our love of reading this year (a la Donalyn Miller) with a 40 book challenge. Having a fancy bookshelf will only enhance the experience of pouring over books! Our district has also adopted a new math curriculum that will be coming with new manipulatives. By moving books to this new book shelf, we will have a dedicated space for our new math materials.
