My classroom has some flexible seating options, but for the most part, we utilize classic plastic chairs, with backs, and metal legs. I have noticed an increased problem with students rocking back in their chairs, which puts a lot of pressure on the joints of the chairs and can be unsafe for the students. I would like to allow students to move easily and bring their focus to their learning, not balancing on the back two legs of their chairs. I have spent a lot of this school year chasing after the problem, educating on how rocking back can break the chairs, as well as the safety hazard that can lead to injuries. For all the talking, modeling, and discussion I have done with them, I have seen little change, so I am looking into a different solution. Wobble Chair allow students to be active in their own space, with a decreased risk of falling backwards, since the chairs are made for rocking and wobbling. Thank you for your consideration!
