For the past few weeks I have watched my students when they go to our class library to choose books. I have seen what they consistently chose. In discussions they have highlighted the types of books they liked to read. These books were selected to continue to hone their reading skills. Students will develop a lifelong love for reading if they are exposed to materials that they find interesting and engaging. The new books will be a welcome upgrade to our classroom library and more students will have the opportunity to read the books that they like. All the other materials are to keep students accountable and actively engaged in their learning.
