The wobble seats and cushions help students release energy and thereby focus on the task at hand. It is difficult to sit on a conventional chair and at a desk for 48 minutes. Many adults have a difficult time with this, but it is even harder for a 12 year old adolescent. When we give our students the energy outlet to move and stretch their bodies with wobble chairs and the ability to sit on cushions to allow more mobility around the classroom, we give them a better opportunity to focus on their projects. When kids aren't so restricted with conventional seating, time seems to fly by quicker. I love when my students say, "Wow, that went fast. It is already time to go." This is always a positive statement for a teacher to hear from a student.
