Although technology has become part of our everyday classroom culture, students love hands-on activities, creating things with their own two hands, and being able to give their creations to others or hang up on our bulletin boards to show off their understanding and talents. However, to integrate technology with hands-on creations is near impossible without having a color printer to help with "out-of-the-box" thinking and design. I would like my kids to see what a final product looks like once it is created using technology and then printed. Most of my kids have never created something in this way, and I believe this would assist in their deeper understanding of the writing process, and how communicating with others is more than just knowing how to write a 5-paragraph essay; it can be poetry, a brochure, a poster, a map, a diagram, a short story, non-fiction, a recipe, etc.
