Research provides evidence-based health benefits of drinking water. Dehydration can impair brain function, affect mood and concentration, increase the frequency of headaches and increase feelings of anxiety and fatigue. Not only can proper hydration relieve headaches and increase energy and focus, adequate water intake has been shown to help relieve constipation, a leading cause of stomach aches. Providing water bottles for students in need can allow students to keep water at their desks and maintain adequate fluid intake throughout the day. At this time, juice and milk are included in the cost of lunch. Water however, requires purchase. Although we have water fountains throughout the school, no water fountain is located in the cafeteria for students. Water bottles can be filled up at our hydration station for drinking during lunchtime. Through the funding of this request, I will be able to provide cold, fresh tasting drinking water to students who are not feeling well, improving their acute symptoms as well as their overall health. We all thank you for your generosity!
