Since this is my first year of teaching kindergarten, I am trying to collect as many materials as I can in order to make my students’ transition from preschool to kindergarten as smooth as possible. I would love for my students to have a bright and colorful carpet for them to come to for reading, playing, singing, and doing other activities. Kindergarten is a major time in my students’ lives for being introduced to literacy. Having a rug with the letters of the alphabet with corresponding pictures that match each letter is really important. The more they are surrounded by literacy, the better! It is also important that my students feel like they have their own space when it comes to sitting on the carpet. Each letter space is the perfect size for a kindergarten student to sit in! I strongly believe this carpet will be a great tool for my students to use this year!
