These supplies will be used for literacy centers. My classroom does not have listening center equipment. The majority of students are Alaskan Native students who speak English at a slower rate with a low vocabulary. Listening to stories helps with how words are spoken, following text left to right, looking at illustrations to help with new vocabulary, and using inflection when speaking. Sight words help students write independently and increase fluency. Words can be used in games and writing activities. An electric pencil sharpener ensures students are ready with their writing tools and can sharpen them independently. Lanyards will assist with identifying which centers students are participating in. I look forward to using everything to help my students improve their literacy skills.
