We learned about the impact of helping others in need with our home grown veggies! This is essentially excited for rural Alaska. The students learned how they can grow fresh food even in the Arctic. The student compared home grown veggies to store bought, which was a great experiment. We learned about plants and how they grow.","fullyFundedDate":1729634073547,"projectUrl":"project/working-on-our-green-thumbs/8861569/","projectTitle":"Working on Our Green Thumbs!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Laurence","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9163714_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1717824659680","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9163714"},{"teacherId":5315490,"projectId":9240252,"letterContent":"Part of being a successful reader is reading on our own time. Practice, practice, practice! Especially when learning to read. It takes effort and energy. It really helps to have a book that you find interesting and are excited to read. Also to have a book at your level is important too. This is why this project has made me so excited! I have selected books at various levels and placed them in groups by level, so students can choose a book at their level to keep. It has been so fun to see them browse all the books and then get excited to choose one book to keep! These books are made available at the end of the school year, so that they have a book of their own to read this summer. Thank you for being a part of this project! The magnetic items help students hold an item and say the name of it while listening for the beginning, middle, or ending sound. Students can practice writing the letters, saying the sounds, and placing items directly under the letter it starts with. The play dough mats can be used with play dough, but can also be written on with dry erase markers. Both activities involve and engage the students in activities. It's not only fun, but allows students to move and actively create letters. Finally, the games are engaging too!
