These musical instruments will be used in conjunction with the daily yoga and mindfulness practices we have in place. The rainstick is a great tool to get student's attention without using a voice or creating any unneeded noise or chaos in the classroom. The singing bowl is also another tool that can be used to indicate transition or to teach mindfulness. The various drums will be used for drum circles. These tools and the use of drum circles will allow my students to release built up tension, eliminate stress and identify negative feelings. All of these tools and instruments have the potential to restore energy and unite the students more with each other as well as themselves. Since my classroom is a social emotionally focused classroom, the potential is endless.
