When we started the idea, we were not sure we would have enough students interested- however, we had to start a waiting list for club members! We have been busy learning about photography basics, getting to know our new DSLR cameras, understanding the different modes, and planning for family engagement night. Students have been engaged in a partnership with local photographers to learn about how to take a successful portrait. At our February family engagement night, students will be taking free family photos. Our IT specialist has visited on multiple occasions and taught them about photo editing in Canva. \r\n\r\nThe student response has been phenomenal. Fourth graders are linking their current ELA Curriculum to photo club. Third-grade students will be engaging in a photo-poetry unit in the next few weeks. These cameras are integral in making these experiences meaningful. Perhaps the most exciting thing about this club is the wide range of students and personalities that have chosen to join an afterschool club. Thank you so much for your kind donations and help in making our photo club a great experience for all students. This project is making an impact on so many lives and creating some budding photographers. We are looking forward to partnering with our local art museum, and more local photographers, and artists in the coming years of this club. These cameras have made it possible for students to develop high-quality photography for our gallery show in the spring. Thank you, thank you, thank you for inspiring students to dream, giving them a reason to love school, and create.","fullyFundedDate":1730397576372,"projectUrl":"project/real-photography-for-real-emotions/8680943/","projectTitle":"Real Photography for Real Emotions","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Curran","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1099842_orig.jpg?crop=1297,1297,x0,y86&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1720659722333","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1099842"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_27890","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":314,"numTeachers":17,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":34,"percentWhite":41,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":9,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 4","studentTeacherRatio":"18.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":55.6,"schoolId":27890,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lincoln - Douglas Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lincoln - Douglas Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/freeport-school-district-145/lincoln-douglas-elementary-school/27890"}
