In order to encourage a college-going culture at my school, students should be able to celebrate their accomplishments of getting into college. The seniors have worked year-round to apply to college and apply for financial aid and scholarships. While they have been pushed throughout the year to step out of their comfort zone and think hard about their futures, having a celebration to recognize their efforts and achievements will encourage them to strive for even more in college. The underclassmen look up to the seniors as role models, so highlighting our college-going students is as important as ever. Having a tie dye party will allow seniors to create a memento of a great milestone in their lives. They will be given the opportunity to use the t-shirts and dyes to dye a t-shirt in the colors of the college they plan to attend in Fall 2018. When they wear their shirts to school, other students will feel encouraged to also pursue college as a postsecondary option!
