Our school has a poverty rate of over 90%. 3/4 of my Kindergarten students will begin their time with me speaking little or no English. Because of budget cuts in the state of Oregon, we are projecting our Kindergarten class size to be about 30 students. Despite the challenges these students face, they will come to school eager to learn, and I want to give them every opportunity to succeed (this includes giving them access to materials such as Weekly Reader).
