These classroom library books will enhance the culture of our classroom, school and community. Students read through a "mirror" in which they see themselves in the characters and conflicts of their books. Other students read through a "window" where they view the live of others. Multi-cultural texts allow all students to see themselves and others creating empathy and compassion while enjoying a love of learning. These diverse texts will be added to our classroom library available for check out to all 8th graders. The titles show diverse races, religions, and genders. They also showcase the many economic differences, academic challenges, athletic hurdles and overcoming musical and artistic hardships. All students will find themselves in one or more of these motivating reads.
