Research demonstrates that reading abilities are improved by simply reading! My middle school students are given the opportunity to check out books, from the classroom library, beginning the first day of school. Getting books in the hands of my students is important, especially books in good working condition. No one wants to use a "tool" that is missing pieces or damaged. I'm excited to be able to provide them new books to replace some that are missing covers, torn, or falling apart. New genre titles have been added as well, allowing for more choices than ones we already have. The joy on their faces as they read a new book for the first time, as they fall in love with a new series, or find the "perfect fit" book is priceless.
