Moving from traditional seating that restricts movement to flexible seating in the classroom will improve task focus. The ability to move about and find comfortable seating is important when it comes to being able to focus on classroom work. This is especially true for students who may have learning disabilities such as attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), sensory perception disorders, and even autism. Instead of having to focus on sitting still, which is a real challenge, they can focus on the task at hand. Flexible seating is perfect for children who squirm in their seats and are unable to stay still. Sitting on a bean bag, wobble chair, balance ball, or other comfortable furniture is a way to channel excess energy into constructive activities. Flexible seating acknowledges a child’s need to move, but at the same time, keeps them sitting still enough so that teachers and other students aren't interrupted. As the title suggests, a happy glutes makes for a happy student and teacher. Prolonged sitting on a hard chair can cause adverse effects on your body. Research indicates that if you sit in a hard chair for long periods, day after day, your glutes shut down. Your glutes impact your hip movement and pelvic rotation. Therefore, what's bad for your derriere is bad for your entire body.
