This year I returned the full-time classroom after being in resource positions for the last ten years. My books are 20 years old and in need of a "fixer-upper." Having more choices will continue to grow and develop my students' love of reading. My students need to have many opportunities to engage in books that they choose. The books requested through this project are books my students have requested. Self-selected reading gives students an opportunity to visit the places they want to go and meet friends that they want to know. I am asking for thirty-eight individual titles and nine different boxed sets of series books. Books such as The Magic Tree House and the Vet Volunteers series are books that my students check out of our school library. However, with limited books in the school library they often have to wait several weeks before a book becomes available. Having a well-stocked classroom library will give my students quicker access to the books they love.
