We are a STEM school and our emphasis in student learning is in applying what they have learned in our classes to problem solving that will make the world around them a better place. We have been working for the majority of the semester to make sure students understand the DEAL Engineering Design Process and can apply it to different scenarios that they encounter. My class has decided that our class DEAL project will be on making sure the school looks better inside and out to increase the appeal and positive perceptions of our school. With these materials, my students will be able to keep their school clean and have a project that they can be proud of for years to come. The Trash grabbers will be used to speed up the process of picking up trash because our students have 45 minutes in each period and we are needing to pick up all around the school. The amount of trash bags are needed to make sure that My two classes 20 students will have enough bags to fill up for 18 weeks of cleaning. The Gloves are for students to stay sanitary and feel comfortable while picking up trash around our building. This is my first year doing this with a group of students, and I believe this could spark a culture of school pride that our students could greatly benefit from.
