Classroom meetings and community building are very important in first grade! My students love working together in centers and reading books from the classroom library with peers and stuffed animal "reading buddies." I'd love for my students to have a nice, coloring rug to sit on when participating in these activities. Right now, they have to sit on the tiled floor which isn't only uncomfortable, but cold in the winter! With a large, colorful rug, each student will also have a specific spot to sit on during more structured learning. Our rug will be a nice specified spot for many of our learning needs!
