Many of the students in our classroom have sensory needs and earbud headphones are not an option for them. For sanitary reasons, each student will be assigned to a set of headphones for the school year. Many academic websites are including text to speech features that our students with significant reading disabilities are currently unable to take advantage of. Other than academic activities, students in our classroom frequently work for free time on the tablets for their individualized reward systems. Most of the activities they choose to do on the tablets are enhanced by sound, but the students are not able to listen to it without disrupting the other students. Our current classroom tablets come with charging cords that are short and frequently come unplugged. The charging stations will make it easier to ensure that our tablets are always fully charged so that they can be used to their maximum potential in our classroom.
