I have strived to put science first in my daily learning routine. With this motivation, my students are learning the scientific method and even applying it in kindergarten. This is incorporated in all areas of eduction through writing, measurement and reading for research. I have found that I am constantly asking parents or running to the store myself for simple objects that make great building materials in the classroom. For part of my project, I am requesting simple items such as play-doh, straws, and tongue depressors. They are great tools for students to think like builders to create structures. Boxes of straws and toothpicks have been adding up in cost this year. Instead of breaking down each and every project, I would love for my students to actually take some materials home to further create and explain lessons learned. Another part of my project includes several STEM kits that teach students the keys to building strong and sturdy structures. KEVA blocks and marble runs are great ways to make learning fun in our classroom! I can not wait to give my students the opportunity to use the kits daily.
