Students do not have personal libraries at home, video games have impacted literacy. Having books in the home and allowing students access to their level of comprehension and fluency gives them independence and ability to learn everywhere. I will let the students choose books to take home to read over summer and weekends at their pace and interchange with other peers choices. Building the confidence in Special Education students helps not only their reading skills but behavior in the classroom when they have a deeper understanding of tasks. Owning their own book gives them responsibility and pride. Funding this project will help feed the curiosity of the student to read and help their overall literacy and fluency.
