While exposing my students to other oppertunities and engagements outside the classroom, I noticed the mental toll it took on some of the students to be around peers who have the same concentration but a lot more resources. This provoked the question of self-worth within my students. Having the ability to provide students with full uniforms helps define a student's identity. How do they do this? Uniforms symbolize unity among other students within the program, build students' confidence, and set an example for students' peers that stands for "I made it"—in other words, their attendance is great, they maintain the honor roll, and they are somebody! For those students who express a desire to explore the option of being professional dancers, they are enrolled into my Dance Focus class. This class dives deeper into technique, terminology, and performance. Uniforms would be worn by these particular students at community performances, school spirit days, and competitions.
