My students are a diverse group of children who are excited to learn. They love coming to school and know they have a safe and fun place to learn. Our class is made up of primarily low income students. They are bouncy, happy, loving and eager. They have a love of learning. Students soak up new information so quickly with the freedom to move and have hands-on experiences. Flexible seating will help students feel empowered by having some degree of choice and control over their environment. Flexible seating will allow them to choose where they work and with whom. We need lap desks, stools and balance ball chairs to provide more flexible seating opportunities. Flexible seating will allow my students to wobble, rock, bounce, lean and stand which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow, and core strength. It also helps keep young minds stay more alert and focused.
