At our STEM Academy, students are exposed to various methods of learning. One of them being technology. We learn to use Chromebooks, QR Codes, and interactive whiteboards every day to meet our needs academically. Starting in kindergarten, we learn to code and begin to research topics. I currently have 23 students enrolled but only 10 Chromebooks. We buddy up when needed and often use the Chromebooks for centers. The use of tablets will allow for me to create QR codes that will take students to websites that will teach them about any topic we are learning about including sight words! Incorporating tablets into the classroom will further enable the use of technology in meaningful ways. Tablets will also be used for my students as an assistive technology allowing them to build their vocabulary through pictures. Through my few years of being a teacher, I have seen how beneficial technology has been in allowing for my special needs students and English Language Learners to find their voice. We use technology in literacy, math, science, for research, and to code. I will be reaching out to more students with your support.
