I am an elementary school teacher that teaches in an Alternative Learning Environment. I teach 3 grade levels with a total of 11 children at this time. These children have behavior issues and many are extremely low academically. My goal is to change their outlook on the classroom, as well as their ideas about learning. Most adults have given up on them because they are the "bad kids." In my opinion, flexible seating and more technology are the best ways to get the students engaged into learning again! All of my students are on various levels academically, so most of my classroom instruction is 1:1 or small group. I have limited technology, which makes it hard to accommodate all of their needs. All of my students will be using the 2 Chromebooks to access sites like Zearn, Successmaker, and Mobymax in order to work on grade level skills and on skills they are lacking in order to close their academic gaps. My students need balance balls and stools to help them stay focused and calm during long periods of time. I would also like to purchase chapter books like Wonder because they teach life lessons that my kids are missing and I could use a variety of books at different levels that will pique all of my students' interest! These different resources for this project are directed toward reaching different learning abilities and helping all students learn the best way they can!
