Young Students enjoy being read to. The current rug in our library media center is small. Although I tell students that they do not have to all fit on the rug, they all try to squeeze themselves together so that they can all fit on the rug. The large rug from School Specialty would accommodate 25-30 small children. Also, I love the way that it is decorated as squares. This will make it easier to seat students in their own designated space. The literary theme of the rug is perfect for the library media center. Our school's mascot is the Owl. Students sit on the carpet for storytime in the Owl's nest. Once students select books and check them out, they like to read in the Owls' nest while waiting on their other peers to be dismissed as a class.
