My class is the only bi-lingual(English/Spanish) Kindergarten class in our school. With 31 scholars in the room, it is often difficult to keep their focus/interest on the topic at hand. Our school library has tablets that we can use from time to time, but as they are used by the entire school, there are most times no tablets left for us. Whenever we do get the chance to use the tablets, I see an instant spark of interest and motivation! As the scholars get to work independently on their ELA or Math work while incorporating the fun of technology they love and are familiar with, I feel a sense of accomplishment and pride as a teacher. I believe that hands-on learning is the best way for children to retain the information they are learning, and the tablet would provide an amazing opportunity for these under-privileged children to gain knowledge and experience in the fields of language, math, technology and beyond!
