Many of my students do not "read for fun" and if I had these novels readily available for them to read and listen to on audio, I feel that I would be able to better encourage them to become readers. The goal would be for them to learn to love to read - which in turn would broaden their vocabulary and language skills. Reading these novels with my special education students would allow me to focus in on literary skills, points of view and topics that they may not be fully comprehending during a regular education class. These three novels span a wide variety of topics, life styles and issues that young students experience and I feel that this would be a fantastic way for me to help them grow as both learners and readers.
