Currently, I demonstrate and explain directions at the front of my classroom using an easel and a whiteboard. Students in the back of the classroom often have trouble seeing what I am doing. Class sizes are too large to demonstrate at a table with the students gathered around me. Demonstrating painting process is a challenge on a vertical board! Using a document camera will allow the students to be more engaged in the learning process by providing clear directions and techniques. Demonstrating painting technique would be a joy because students can actually see my hands mixing paint and creating brush strokes. A horizontal surface would make demonstrating all drawing and painting techniques so much easier. Students need to see what my hands are doing!
