Breakout boxes can be used to introduce a new concept, to reinforce lessons that have already been taught, or bring closure to a lesson in a fun and exciting way. Based on the Breakout Room format, students are excited to participate in their learning experience when they learn that they are going to do a Breakout Challenge! Their curiosity and problem solving skills immediately kick in. They form a bond with their team, which builds communication and listening skills, respect, problem solving skills and collaboration. They love the challenge of solving the riddles, and trying to beat the other teams to the solution. Each riddle solved allows them a piece of the final puzzle. Teachers create clues to lead the students through the challenge. They can also create hint cards to help students when they get stuck. There is a time limit, so as they work through the challenge this helps to build involvement and excitement as well. Students race to solve the academic riddles which will lead them to the final solution, and they have such a sense of accomplishment when they finally solve the puzzle! The Breakout kits provide all of the materials needed to create these academic challenges. The Breakout Boxes can be used with any subject, and are a fun way to involve the students in their own learning. Motivation is key, and the Breakout boxes certainly provide that!
