A classroom that allows choice is a classroom where learning will happen. I almost never choose my teacher desk when it’s time to grade papers. I choose a spot more comfortable; often my couch at home! My goal is to empower students to independently make a seating choice that will help them be successful. The coffee table will give students a comfortable work space on the floor with cushions to sit on. I envision the camping style chairs to be located near the classroom library to provide a cozy reading nook or a perfect place for partner work. By donating to my classroom, you will be helping me enhance the classroom learning environment. Allowing independence and choice in seating options should help students be more available to learn and hopefully more engaged in our lessons.
