My students are a great hard-working group of AVID students that go from just average to the top of the class. They endure the push from me, their AVID teacher, to write organized notes, do extra studying, stay organized, study hard, use inquiry, critical thinking skills, and effective collaboration to keep their grades at a C or higher in all classes. On top of that they must research and present on careers and colleges throughout the year, many of which they have never heard of, since many will be first generation college students and come from low-income families. They are a group of young Latino students that understand the value of hard work, but also love to show their young spirit through fun activities as well in depth discussions about things such as the 3/5s compromise of the constitution. They face many high expectations and work hard to reach them with a smile and maybe some jokes to get there. They als
