When this project is funded, I will be able to make available multiple copies the Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Amulet, and Dog Man series, thus reducing the wait time for students desiring to check them out. Students who read independently and widely, using books of personal interest, become successful and effective readers. Using these graphic novels and popular fiction titles, reluctant readers will be drawn in to the fun of reading and will begin to read for their own personal enjoyment. Due to the graphic and social appeal of the three series that I chose, the students will be drawn into practicing reading strategies and skills taught in the classroom in an entertaining manner.
