Students love to have rock and mineral samples that they can use all of their sense to identify and study instead of pictures from a book. By using these mineral samples students be able to apply their knowledge they receive from my lectures and the book to help identify minerals and rock. After my lessons of rocks and minerals, students will have to identify what type of mineral they have. They will have the opportunity to try the different identifying methods they were taught. Students learn a lot more from hands on activities than just be verbally taught or shown a video of the techniques. Who knows this could be the start of a new geologists!
