My students are fun, energetic, and sensory seeking individuals all diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. They need help co-regulating and sensory tools help them to achieve better regulation. When their bodies are focused and regulated, their minds follow and they are able to learn. The divider will be used to help my students’ focus, reduce noise and visual stimuli from their space, thus promoting learning. The mobility of the divider will allow for adaptability within the classroom as well as to change functions and placement as needed. Clipboards help my students achieve greater independence by keeping their daily schedules and morning folders. They will also help staff track and monitor student progress quickly and accurately. They make learning accessible in all environments. The Rocket Tent and various sensory toys will further integrate their sensory needs into the classroom and encourage self-regulation. To promote intellectual and emotional growth in the classroom, we need to first create a space that encourages creativity and the capacity for problem solving. These items can do that by fostering independence and self-regulatory means.
