The group of students I have coming to me next year are tenacious with their learning. They are highly motivated to learn and have been working incredibly hard during summer school. Despite their hard work, many of them have a hard time with number sense. Most of the materials in my classroom were passed down to me from retiring teachers, so most of the materials are also dated, breaking, or missing pieces. My students have been highly receptive to using tens frame models, but the temporary hand made manipulatives we have are wearing down. This project includes higher quality tens frame materials that will last, yardsticks for our measurement unit, lamination packets for students to create their own math games, a hands on unifix activity to bring graphs to life, and people colored crayons so each student can feel represented and valued in our classroom. These students are more than deserving of all of these materials and we are super grateful for anyone who is able to donate.
