Our school was built in 1923 and lacks proper ventilation for the current time. In other words, our building does not have an air conditioner. During the months that lead to the end of the year and the months that start school, we are experiencing 80 to 90 degree days. Our room not only becomes uncomfortable warm and stuffy but also intolerable for learning. Students have a very hard time concentrating on their academics and producing excellent work. Each day, I strive to create an environment that boosts engagement and enriches the visual and verbal skills of students. This will be much easier in a more tolerable physical setting that includes an air conditioner.
