The students are in desperate need of new strings. Strings typically last a year with the average student's performance. Due to the cost of strings, it is too expensive to restring the entire orchestra every year. As old strings give out they begin to produce false pitches. What this means, is no matter what the student does, they will struggle to play 100 percent in tune. By the students having new, higher quality strings it will greatly improve the sound of their instrument, which will help boost their confidence! I have seen students sit taller and play out when they have great sounding instruments. By providing a higher quality of strings for the students, it will improve their tone production, which will help increase their success in the near future.
