I have had the honor of moving from elementary school to middle school this year. I have enjoyed every minute of teaching eight grade English and watching the role literature can have in my students' lives. Unfortunately, it has become apparent that the resources in my classroom do not reflect the culturally diverse backgrounds of my students. I hope to provide my students with books, literature, and characters that can form meaningful connections with. My students have been so willing to share their amazing backgrounds and stories with me and I want to honor their work by providing them with stories that mirror their own experiences.
