Ashley Valley High School is a small alternative high school in a rural area. Students at this school do not fit the typical mold and are seriously delinquent in credit and are typically not concerned about getting caught up and graduating. Currently, all coursework is completed on computers. Students sit at a computer and take quiz after quiz for weeks (sometimes months) and after many quizzes are passed credit is issued. It is obvious why so many of our students drop out or become frustrated. The students have been very vocal this year about their displeasure with the current offerings of our school and have inspired me to change things up a bit by offering more discovery based, hands on learning options. They have also been very vocal about their ideas for interesting projects.
