Building an inclusive STEM classroom that examines contributions from women and minority STEM leaders, is the key to attract students interest into science in a urban setting. My personal ideology is if I want to increase the STEM pipeline, my students need to identify as being part of this profession. In this way, they can be stimulated to pursue these scientific careers. My classroom is surrounded by quotes from famous STEM leaders These quotes should served as a reflection to our students as they ponder a career in the sciences. When my student's feel challenged by a class material, I tried to use these STEM leaders as exemplars. This past year, our students showed their curiosity to science by innovating and creating two independent research products an organic pesticide and nicotine model. The goal is for our students to overcome their academic and personal challenges so they can excel in their professions.
