My 5th grade is departmentalized and this year was my first year as the reading teacher. I came across many ups and downs this year, but the biggest struggle was having a classroom library that all readers could access and enjoy. With these new books, I'm confident my readers will fall in love with reading. This year I found that the books my kids loved to read were books I only have 1 or 2 copies of at best. They loved fantasy series books, and books by the same author. I want to be able to offer my struggling learners and English Language Learners high interest books with low readability to help them find their love for reading and give them material that's accessible as well.
