My students work hard. Dealing with COVID-19 has been extremely difficult. I have many students with limited access to the internet, which makes virtual learning difficult. They try to work on their phones more often than not. Many of my students have missed weeks at a time due to COVID-19 and quarantines. When they miss, they fall behind. Reading is a wonderful way to keep their minds motivated even when they are at home. A reader can travel the world while reading a book. A student’s vocabulary increases when reading. Reading a novel from their phones is difficult, to say the least. I am hoping that by acquiring several different novels, I can send a book or two home with the students.
