My classroom revolves around a sense of community and caring for each other. The Responsive Classroom method begins with a Morning meeting time, preferably on a carpet, where students build community with each other. Our classroom rug also is utilized many other times during our school day for reading and math centers, read aloud time, individual reading time and STEM activities. Having an inviting and colorful place to explore, learn, and grow is an integral part of a primary classroom. Students have investigated science, such as finding objects that are magnetic and nonmagnetic, learned about social studies while reading maps, and improved their math skills using various manipulatives and playing partner games all on our classroom carpet. Help the new Nowlin Superkids have an inviting and fresh new place to learn and grow!
