It is necessary that all classrooms are outfitted with a proper classroom library in which students are able to access grade level texts. It is also necessary that the classroom library have a rug for sitting and reading in a comfortable and welcoming environment. Our students come from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Having access to high quality literature in a proper classroom library is crucial for our ESL population in order to continue to make advances in their academic and core curriculum. These rugs will create a comfortable, welcoming space for our students to sit for whole group instruction and our daily read alouds. We also want to create an independent reading space for our center activities. We plan to carefully organize our leveled reading books to provide easy access to our students as they transition to independent and buddy reading centers. We currently have no bins for our books nor is there a suitable rug for our students to sit on. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
