Walking into my classroom for the first time, I saw no supplies that the students could use to help them learn. There were a few books that the students can read. There was barely any decorations on the walls. The classroom didn't feel welcoming at all. I want my classroom to feel welcoming to my students. The books like She Persisted: 13 American Women Who Changed the World and The Wonderful Things You Will Be will allow my students to believe that they can do anything they put their minds too. These books have powerful messages that I want my students to understand at an early age. The crayons will allow the students to explore their creative sides. They can draw pictures from the stories we will be reading together as a whole class. After the students created their drawings, I will display their artwork so that the students feel important in the classroom. The ten frames and counters will help my students with counting, addition, and subtraction skills. The whiteboards and markers will give my students the opportunity to work through problems as I quickly assess their learning. Through all the challenges that my students face on a daily basis, they still come into my classroom with a smile. They will be so grateful for the opportunities these materials will give them to further their learning!
