These materials and tools will our students to learn electronics, circuits, metal and wood building. They will use the engineering design process to identify problems, brainstorm ideas, build and test their ideas and redesign and re-build if necessary. Due to being in a low-income community our students would not have access to the materials needed to accomplish these goals outside of our program and competitions. Many of out students are minorities, economically disadvantaged and girls who have historically not shown interest in engineering fields. The most expensive item on our list is the lexan hard plastic. This is used as the platform to attach our electronic equipment and wiring. It needs to be able to support this equipment through high impacts with barriers, walls and other robots. We also requested various sized and shaped pieces of metal and brackets.
