Next year, Whittier fourth graders will begin band! Our budding woodwind players are prepared and ready after playing recorder, but our aspiring brass players are at a disadvantage. A class set of beginning brass instruments will allow every student the opportunity to explore brass instruments in a simple and successful manner. The Brass for Beginners program brings students back to the beginning of music history - when ancient humans buzzed their lips through animal horns to create different sounds. Throughout our beginning brass unit, students will study ancient history while learning to produce sounds on natural trumpets. The curriculum supplied also incorporates games and technology - so Ms. Croghan will be able to make this experience fun as well as educational!
