The ukuleles will provide my students with the necessary materials to learn to play a new instrument, specifically the ukulele! The student population at our school is such that we cannot ask our families to chip in for any materials let alone, rent or purchase their own instruments. Studies have shown that by participating in music, students excel in other subjects as well as become a more well rounded human being. The connection between music and the brain is a great one. Some of my students are worried about where they will sleep tonight or if they will have food for dinner; I want to give them as many awesome experiences as possible to remind them that they can still have dreams.
